Supporting Everyone's
Right To
A Real Life
Lost in
the System
What Does That Mean?
There are three ways to get involved in what we do -
Campaigning Members
We campaign for action to show how people have achieved positive outcomes despite difficult situations, we do this through collective action, influencing policymakers, sharing what works, and shining a light on violations.
Active Support
A smaller group who can offer more intensive support to plan around individual situations.
There are many factors which can affect how sustainable support arrangements are. The availability of practical input to grow confidence, and help address the shortage of specialist skilled support has been a factor in many out of area and long stay hospital placements.
We can help change the direction around what is possible, regardless of labels.
Community
Regular online spaces to come together to share practice and experiences, collaborate on solutions, and develop resources which aim to strengthen the collective knowledge and skills of people and organisations.
We help you find New Routes Home
New Routes Home is a partnership of interested individuals and organisations across Scotland.
We campaign to support the human rights of people with Learning Disabilities, and Autistic people who are in long term hospital settings including Assessment and Treatment Units, out of area placements, as well as people at risk of losing their housing and support often due to labels of being “challenging”.
There are many factors which impact on flexible outcomes in these circumstances, and we support progressive approaches proven to keep people at the centre of plans and practical alternatives to these damaging outcomes, as well as advocating against the creation of institutional models of support in the community.
